Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah writes contemporary YA fiction. She is also a lawyer, human rights advocate and community volunteer with human rights, migrant and refugee resource organisations. As a Muslim of Palestinian and Egyptian heritage, the fictional YA worlds she creates are diverse and realistic. They also draw on her PhD, which explored Islamophobia, racism and everyday multiculturalism in Australia.
